Prospect Heights Park District residents did not approve referendum
A majority of Prospect Heights Park District voters answered “no” to the November 8, 2022, bond referendum request to fund priority projects that included:

Construction of a new recreation center to replace Gary Morava Recreation Center

Construction of a new aquatic facility to replace Lions Park Pool
-
Installation of a new outdoor playground at Lions Park

Addition of new tennis, pickleball and basketball courts
“The Prospect Heights Park District Board of Commissioners and staff are committed to serving the community,” said Tim Jones, Prospect Heights Park District Board President. “Although the community did not approve the referendum, our goal is to continue providing quality recreation, fitness and leisure programs at the Gary Morava Recreation Center, the Lions Park Pool, Old Orchard Country Club and 14 park sites.”
“We are grateful to the community for their involvement in this entire process – from participating in the surveys, to sharing feedback on initial concepts, to voting,” said Christina Ferraro, Prospect Heights Park District Executive Director. “We will continue to plan engaging and meaningful programs and classes for our community in 2023 and beyond while making the best use of our current facilities.”
Because the community did not approve the referendum, proposed capital projects will be deferred or not done at all. Under current plans, major capital improvements or replacements can only be done every five-to-10-years depending upon the project. The Park District will continue maintaining the facilities and park spaces within available resources.
