Fencing Classes Registration Deadline
NEW Fencing-Little Musketeer
Fencing is a fun sport that gives kids the opportunity to be active, play and make new friends. This introduction Fencing class uses play to teach movement skills, basic fencing footwork, and blade work. Safety instruction is included. Participants will learn about foil, epee and sabre-the three weapons used in fencing. The class is taught by instructors of the Illinois Fencers Club, all USA Fencing coaches. Fencing specific gear is provided.
NEW Beginner Fencing
Fencing is a unique sport combining physical agility and mental adaptability. The class is for students without prior experience and will teach basic rules, safety, footwork, and bladework skills. The class will introduce all three weapons used – foil, sabre, and epee. USA Fencing coaches teach the class from the Illinois Fencers Club. All fencing swords needed for the class are provided. However, students will need to provide their own fencing gear set (a mask, glove, chest protector, and jacket) by renting a set for $40 or buying their own. If renting equipment, students must return all the equipment at the conclusion of the class, cleaned and in the same working condition as when received.
